(一段优雅的音乐，幕缓慢地打开。四位小妇人穿着老旧的衣服在客厅桌边。大
姊Meg和二姐Jo正在绘制衣服图案。三妹Beth和四妹Amy托着下巴看着。)
Meg : Oh, Christmas party! I can’t wait. (抬头挺起身来，拨拨头发，伸开
双手说)
Jo : Yeah! It’s Christmas tomorrow. (也抬起身来，开心地说 )
Beth : I love parties. (起立，牵起Jo跳起舞来，口里哼着)
Da-la-la-la-la, bong-bong, bong-bong.
Da-la-la-la-la, bong-bong, bong-bong…
Amy : (起立摊开双手说) But…we don’t have nice clothes.
Meg : I’m making. Don’t worry. (低头继续工作)
Jo : (指着笔和铅笔) Whose pen and pencil?
Beth : Amy’s! (看着Amy) Amy, pass the pen and pencil, please?
Amy : Sure! (拿起笔和铅笔给Beth) Here you are!
Beth : Thank you. (转身) Jo, the pen and the pencil.
Jo : Thank you. (接过笔和铅笔)
Beth : You’re welcome.
Meg : (对着Jo说) Jo, can I use your ruler?
Jo: Sorry, I don’t have it. Amy, can I use your ruler?
Amy : Sure! Here you are. (拿起尺给Jo)
Jo : Thank you. (接过尺。)
Amy : You’re welcome.
Jo : (转身) Here you are, Meg.
Meg : Oh, good! Thanks! (接过尺)
Beth : Do you need the scissors, Meg? (拿起scissors问)
Meg : Not now. Later.
(工作一会儿后)
Meg : (高兴地) Done! (和Jo一同将图拿起来展示)
Jo : (看着图) Wow! It’s so pretty.
Beth : (看着图) It’s too small.
Amy : (看着图) No. It’s too big.
Meg : (得意地) I think it fits!
Jo : Come on. Let’s work on it.
Beth : (失望地拿起一旁的布料) But ..Look!…It’s ugly.
Amy : What can we do?
Meg : Well…I don’t know. (无奈地张望着)
Jo : (打个大哈欠) I am sleepy.
Beth : (很困地趴在桌上) Me, too!
Amy : (对着大家说) Let’s go to bed.
(表演吉的堡歌曲：Time for Bed，大家跟着歌曲做动作。)
(歌曲完后，四位小妇人退场。)
(圣诞老公公在雪橇出现的音乐声中，背着大袋子出场。)
Santa : (自言自语) They are good girls. What are they making?
(拿起图和布料看看) Hmm…It’s ugly. They need helps!
(胡涂地找东西状) Eh? Where is my bag? Oh!.
Here it is.
(从袋子里拿出礼物) This one is for Meg. This one is
for Jo. This one is for Beth. This one is for Amy.
Ho! Ho! Ho! Time to go.
(有雪橇的音乐声再度响起，圣诞老公公退场。)
~~~~~ Act II ~~~~~
(转换成如置身梦乡一般的音乐；烟雾，如梦似幻中。饰演梦幻中的小妇人穿着亮
丽的衣服出场。音乐渐渐地小声。)
梦Meg : Wow! Look! (不相信地看着自己的礼服)
梦Jo : Look at my jacket and pants. (神气地大转一圈)
梦Beth : And look at my dress. It’s beautiful. (跳两下华尔兹)
梦Amy : Oh, I like the skirt. Look! (拉着裙脚飘一飘 )
梦Meg : Now we can go to the party.
(门铃突然响起。大家一起做好奇状。)
梦小妇人们 : (一起说) Who is it?
(出场乐声中。男伴们手中各自拿着礼物，走出来。)
男伴1 : (走到Meg的面前，将手中礼物递出) Good evening, Meg! This is for you.
Meg : Thank you.
男伴2 : (走到Jo的面前) Come on, Jo! This is (It’s) your gift.
Jo : Thanks.
男伴3 : (走到Beth的面前) Hi, Beth! Merry Christmas! (将手中礼物递出)
Beth : (接过礼物，面带微笑的回答) Thank you.
男伴4 : (走到Amy的面前) Hi, Amy! Happy holiday. (将手中礼物递出)
Amy : (高兴的接过礼物) I like it very much. Thank you.
(梦幻中的小妇人和男伴们挽着手，一起跳着舞，在梦幻般的音乐与烟雾中退场。)
~~~~~ Act III ~~~~~
(清晨的鸟叫声，天色渐明。报佳音者带着铃铛出场。播放歌曲 “Christmas Is
Coming”。唱毕即退下。四位现实中，穿着老旧衣服的小妇人揉着眼睛，跟着入场。)
Meg : (爱困样) Good morning.
Jo : (看看窗外) It’s Christmas today.
Beth : (遗憾样) But we can’t go to the party.
Amy : (看看自己身上的衣服) ‘Cause we don’t have nice dress.
Meg : (指着礼盒) Look! What’s that?
Jo : Christmas gifts from Santa?
Beth : (打开礼盒) Wow! Look! (用手势叫大家来看看礼盒内的东西)
Amy : (做惊讶状) They are beautiful!
小妇人们 : NOW, we can go to the party. Let’s get ready, yeah!
(兴奋地蹦蹦跳跳，抱起礼盒退场。)
(放圣诞曲，全体演员手牵手再次上台，向台下观众鞠躬致意，落幕。)
